Club Meetings
With the lockdown in place the Rotary Club of Church Wilne is continuing to hold its Monday evening meetings using Zoom. The first Zoom meeting was a Business Meeting held on 13^th April and was attended by 38 members. The Accounts of the Church Wilne Rotary Trust for the year ended 30^th June 2019 were approved for filing with the Charity Commission. These showed net income from events and donations for the year of £41,332 and total charitable payments of £39,657.

The speaker at the next meeting held on 20^th April, attended by 40 members, was the Club President Andy Cartwright who gave a fascinating talk on Kayaking. Andy has gained a 4 Star Award in white water kayaking, he is a Level 3 Coach and has worked for the PGL in South France as lead Kayak Instructor.

He is part of the coaching team for the International Scout & Guides Camp and also coaches Scout Groups through Lincoln Water activities.

He explained the difference between a kayak and a canoe and he told the members that there are many forms of the sport such as slalom as seen in the Olympics, white water racing, sea kayaking, sprint, marathon, polo and freestyle.

Donations
Donations were made by the Club of £500 each to 3 local charities for food parcels and other essential items following the Government lockdown : Canaan Trust, Long Eaton and Sawley Food Bank and the Hope Centre in Derby.
